Our preschool children have been getting involved in writing a poem for a competition organised by Young Writers.
Using a template we were provided with, staff asked the children a series of different questions to form part of the poem. These included what they like playing with, what they like to eat and who their favourite person is.
There was a huge range of different answers and these poems will be posted off to Young Writers for a chance to win £1000.
There are many benefits of exploring poetry in Early Years as it can inspire a love of language, develop and expand children’s vocabulary and helps to nurture and develop their imagination and creativity.
