Today at nursery, our chef tried a new recipe for the children to taste.  The children had a choice of either beef and mushroom pie or sweet potato pie, served with new potatoes and brocolli.

Below is the recipe which you might like to try at home:

Beef and mushroom pie

Ingredients:                                                                                                           
Diced Beef
Pureed garlic
Onions
Mushrooms
Beef stock
Puff pastry sheets
Egg

 

 

What to do:
1. Seal the beef in an oiled pan
2. Dice the mushrooms and onions
3. Saute the onion and mushrooms for 10 minutes
4. Add the beef stock, some water and thicken with cornflour
5. Distribute the mixture into a casserole dish and lay the pastry on top
6. Brush with beaten egg for a glossy finish
7. Cook in a pre heated over at 160c for 45 minutes until the pastry is golden

Sweet potato pie

Ingredients:                                            
Sweet potato
Carrots
Celery
Pureed garlic
Onion
Mushroom
Vegetable stock
Cornflour to thicken

 

 

 

What to do:
1. Follow the instructions as above and serve with seasonal vegetables and new potatoes.
